Kids Make

3D doodler pens. I am not particularly a fan,
but the kids got into them even though they broke a lot
  • Program goals
    • Showcase maker kits (circulating and in-house)

Sewing Station
Project: Mini bag
  • 2 sewing machines
  • Fabric, thread, scissors
  • 2 tables, 1 adult volunteer (Rosie)
Fiber Arts Station
Project: Weaving
  • Large loom
  • pre-made cardboard looms, darning/weaving needles
  • yarn
  • Rainbow loom kit (from pop-up maker space)
  • 1 table, 1 adult volunteer (Mom)
Robotics/3D Station
  • 3D Doodler pens (from consortium, may or may not work)
  • Ozobots (2 - borrow from Chad)
  • Spinbot (in basement)
  • Spheros (2 - borrow from Chad) (ipads)
  • 1-2 tables; cover tables with paper, markers
  • Set up in corner of room - cardboard blocks for Sphero maze
  • 1 associate (Maria)
Beading Station
  • beads and tools (use teen kit and circulating maker kit)
  • perler beads (use teen kit)
  • felt on table
  • 1-2 tables, 1 teen aide (Kylee - help at other stations as needed in com. room)
Sculpting Station
  • Sculpey clay, tools (use teen kit) (extra Sculpey)
  • Cover table with plastic
  • 1 table, 1 teen aide (Makenna - alternate here and in lobby)
Building Station
  • Magna tiles, gears, marble run (all from pop-up maker space)
  • Legos
  • Corner (by closets)
Art Station
  • paint (biocolor, paint cups), paper plates, brushes, water cups
  • paper, scissors, glue
  • aprons, sink, towels
  • 4-5 tables, covered in plastic
  • narrow wood table for supplies
  • 1 teen aide (Colin) with Makenna as alternate
Resource Table
  • Books, circulating maker kits
  • 1 table in lobby below signs
  • Handouts (in publisher) Handouts (in pdf)
  • (These were what I was really hoping people would take. Each station is set up to connect back to the maker workshops, kits, and pop-up stations as well as additional resources)

    • Attendance: 35
    • Notes: A smaller group than I usually have for a Saturday program, but more than this would have been too much for the scope of the program. We got most of our attendance from about 11-1 and some people were still playing then. Lots of interest in future programs and lots of flyers picked up.
